TREASURE ISLAND, San Francisco — San Francisco transportation officials have approved moving forward with an on-street metered parking plan for Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island.
The SFMTA Board of Directors voted March 3, 2026, to advance the proposal. The agency and Treasure Island Development Authority are preparing an implementation plan, including a timeline and more detailed information to be announced. The approval reflects the need to manage curbside space as new residences, businesses and parks open.
The decision does not mean every street parking space is already metered or that all locations will have the same rules. Motorists should rely on actual signs and meters, since older parking information may no longer match the roadway as the development proceeds.
What residents should know
Residents, employees and visitors can monitor SFMTA’s official Treasure Island project page for adopted regulations, operational dates and any arrangements for local permit holders. People with accessibility needs should verify designated spaces before leaving home.
